Orin's March Calendar

>> Thursday, June 21, 2007

I'm a little behind with this but here are some highlights from Orin's March Calendar.

  1. Orin insists on listening to music in the car. As soon as we get in the car all he say is “music on, music on”.
  2. Can easily count to ten.
  3. Orin is liking TV a little more. He’ll now watch Sesame Street, 4 Elmo DVDs and a little bit of Barney.
  4. Pretending more. Today he was eating a carrot and was putting it up to Ernie’s mouth for him to eat some.
  5. In the car, if Micaiah is fussy Orin gets agitated and often wines. He’ll say “baby passy, baby passy”.
  6. Orin got his third hair. He did a good job. He sat pretty well and when he started to get antsy, the barber gave him a sucker and he loved it.
  7. Anytime he sees a someone or something (e.g. in a book) with it’s eyes closed he always puts his finger up to his mouth and says “shhhhh, sleezin (aka sleeping).”
  8. If he sees a picture of a family in one of his books and Orin will name each one of them for our family (mommy, daddy, Caiah, Orin, and sometimes Nina or Mimie).
  9. Often Orin will climb on the couch and say “hold baby, hold baby”. He loves to hold Micaiah.
  10. Today Orin was holding Micaiah and he said “baby sick, cold”. Micaiah had snot running out of his nose.
  11. When Orin is all done eating something and we ask if he wants more he says “More all done”.
  12. Orin got his toddler bed and is doing a great job sleeping in it. He calls it “New bed”.
  13. Last night at 4am when Micaiah started crying we went in the room and Orin was standing next to the crib with his arm through the slats trying to pat Micaiah (which is what we do when he is crying). Orin was crying too and saying “Baby sad, baby sad.”
  14. Orin loves to take cars and have them drive off of the couch one-by-one. This will take about 20 minutes and he gets upset if we make him stop in the middle of doing it.
  15. When we’re in the car and a song that is playing ends, Orin says “all done, all done” and will often keep repeating it and getting louder and louder until we say “All done” as well. For some songs Orin will say “Good song” instead of “All done”.
  16. I can now use not being able to listen to music as a punishment. If Orin is being naughty I’ll tell him that if doesn’t obey then he will be punished from music in the car home. It works very well and he usually obeys right away.
  17. When Orin is done eating he said “You all done” instead of I’m all done.
  18. Orin fell and hit his mouth and his tooth cut all of the way through his lip (from the inside to the outside).
  19. Orin is starting to act more like a 2 year old. He’s throwing some tantrums.
  20. Orin is finally doing better at eating with a spoon. He went through a period where he only wanted mommy to do it.
  21. Orin is good at taking turns. I think he learned this when I was teaching him how to eat with a spoon and he didn’t want to do it. I’d give him and bite and then say “Orin’s turn.” He’d then say “mommy’s turn”. Now if I say “Give Micaiah a turn” he enjoys doing it.
  22. He loves to declare “doggy outside” if he hears him barking outside and “doggy inside” if the dog is inside.
  23. Aminols” (animals)
