100th Anniversary of the Thai Air Force!
>> Wednesday, April 25, 2012
This week we went to an Air Show here in Chiang Mai. I think it was to celebrate the 100th anniversary of the Thai Air Force. It was H-O-T but I'm glad we went. The kids seemed to really enjoy it too. I couldn't believe how many people were there and we only saw a couple other westerners.

Seriously, it was hot - and bright.
But the kids were patient.
The control tower at the Air Force Base.
We got there about 30 minutes late and had to wait about 15 minutes because they had stopped the show to let a few passenger planes take off and land. The Air Force Base shares a runway with Chiang Mai airport.
You can see the little bead of sweat dripping down his cheek.
My husband is now thinking like a Thai person and remember to bring our umbrellas if we are going to be outside. So glad he did because it really made a difference!
He kept cupping his hands around his eyes because it was so bright. He was too cute.
The red plane pilot waving goodbye!
The the "Blue Phoenix" came out. It was 7 planes that flew in different formations. I could tell that this was supposed to be the highlight of the show.
Right as it was over there were some empty seats in the shade that opened up. Oh well, at least we got to rest for a bit.
People were taking pictures with the Blue Phoenix pilots and getting their autographs.
Sora liked the elephants that were on the lawn as we were walking out.
