Our First Plateau

>> Wednesday, May 23, 2007

Well, we seemed to have hit our first "partnership" plateau. Everyone said it would happen. Of course, almost everything people said would happen has happened. "The people you thought would definitely support you won't, and you'll be completely surprised at who will" - Yep. "It will be one of the hardest things you ever do" - Yep. "It will be one of the most faith building things you ever do" - Yep. That's just to name a few. The one we've recently discovered is "You won't build support steadily, you'll have spurts of growth and you'll hit a lot of plateaus." In some ways it's pretty discouraging, but the great part about it is that it just drives us back to prayer as our first priority in this process. As difficult as it is, it's easy to understand why God gave this model for missions. When we look at the amount we have to raise, we know that the only way it will happen is if and when God allows it to happen. I almost feel as it if it "Trust Training". When we've actually taken our assignment and we're living totally on the gifts of individuals and churches, not knowing exactly how much money we'll be making month to month, trust in God will be the only thing we have keep us from worry. Right now, when I let my mind go and I start to think "there's now way we'll raise what we need" and "it will be years before we can actually go" God always bring be back to the fact that we need to trust him and know that he has a plan, even if it isn't what we want, or think we want.

...I agree with you that support raising is a training time. The one thing that I have to remind myself of every day is that God has a perfect time and date in mind. We are on Him schedule! Keep praying! Ya'll are doing great.
