Ennis Fall Festival

Two Saturday's ago we were looking for something (preferably free) to do as a family. We found a small fall festival down in Ennis, TX. It's a small town about 40 minutes south of us. It was a blast. Sometimes the little festivals can be more fun that those big fairs - especially for kids. We ended up being there for almost 5 hours. We also found the Ennis train museum right on the next block so spent about 45 minutes in there after the festival. Here are a few highlights:



One of the tents was for decorating little pumpkins. We helped Caiah with his and Orin really got into it.





For a couple of dollars kids could ride pony's. Orin was a little hesitant at first, but really got into it by the time his turn came. He chose the pink one. He wasn't scared at all and rode around without me by his side.

You can't beet free face painting. Orin first wanted a train but during the 10 minute wait changed his mind 5 times. He finally settled on a flower with pink and white dots.

Caiah got a smiley face.


We had a picnic while listening to the live blue grass music. The kids loved it and danced while they sat and ate.


Daddy enjoyed his sandwich too.


There was a little petting area. It was actually the cleanest one I've ever been in. I felt sorry for the poor animals. They seemed pretty scared with all of the kids chasing them around.




A church had a tent with some fishing and candy. We got invited to Awana. Too bad we don't live closer. I would like to get Orin involved in Awana around here.

The caboose outside of the train museum. They played in this thing for 30 minutes and we had to make them leave but were happy to avoid any meltdowns. If you haven't figured it out yet, Orin LOVES trains.


We ended the day by getting ice cream from the Dollar General located in the middle of the festival.


He's just too cute.


Micaiah was asleep less than five minutes after getting in the car. It was a great day!
