One night I woke up at 3am to help Caiah use the bathroom and noticed we had a huge puddle of water in our hall. The air conditioner was dripping - actually almost pouring - from the ceiling. Let me tell you, these are the moments were I am thanking God that we don't own a house anymore. We had plenty of these little incidents in our old house and it was never fun. It took maintenance two days to get to us (it's mostly volunteers and so they are usually short-staffed and very backed up) but we didn't mind too much since the AC was still working.

We're are all enjoying be involved in the summer reading program at the library this year. It's really the first year that we doing it. I figured since we read so much anyway, the kids might as well get some fun stuff out it it. :-) The prize for 15 hours of reading was tickets to the Dallas Children's Theater. They put on all sorts of kids plays that are really supposed to be a great. Unfortunately, the tickets cost about $18/person which is just outrageous. Needless to say we've never been. The tickets we got were for their current play which is 'The Neverending Story'. Since it's so expensive and since the play would be a little over Caiah's anyway, Damien and Orin went with the tickets. Orin had no idea what we meant when we said he was going to a 'play' and Damien said he seemed a little nervous and confused while they waited to go in. But he sat through the entire thing with no problem and was really into it. He said he enjoyed it and has brought it up a few times since. But it's still so hard to read him sometimes.

This is the way the kids play indoor hockey: In the most inconvenient part of the kitchen. Almost always in their underwear. "Skates" on their feet - sometimes on one, sometimes on two. (Which means piles of toys dumped on the floor.) A checker as their puck. Smiles on their faces, but half of the time ending with someone screaming or crying. Micaiah laying down in the goal after he scores.
Outside craftime. I love this idea. Spray bottle filled with water and a little bit of paint. Brown paper taped to the wall. We've been doing a little less crafting this summer with all of of our other activities.
A mall nearby has this great huge kids play fountain. Our playgroup went down there for a morning of fun. It has been so HOT here lately that it was perfect for the kids. There were lots of tables with umbrellas and the nicest & cleanest public bathroom I have ever been to. And I should know because we used it three times! The bathroom itself is enough reason for us to go back!

We decided to venture out to the "Taste of Dallas". It's a free festival with lots of Dallas restaurants set up with booths. We sampled some of the yummy food. There was also a fun kids area. We took the DART downtown for the first time since we moved. It was actually pretty nice. The kids loved it. I was surprised to find out how close we live to the station. Unfortunately, the entire day was weighed down by the fact that it was horribly HOT. I mean it was seriously miserable. We really tried to enjoy everything but it was so hard when we could barely move out of fatigue. The kids were troupers but we could tell they were struggling too. Thank goodness for AC in the DART on the way home.

He looked so cute waiting for the train. Orin mentioned that it would be loud with a loud whistle so he was actually quite scared and worried.
It was very nice for Orin to give me a fake smile. :-) At least he tried.Another fake one. However, once we got going he was so excited and both of them just loved it the entire time.
There was a little petting zoo in the children's area. It was the cleanest and best smelling petting zoo I've ever been to. The best part was that it was in the shade.

Feeding the Lama.

He just looked so adorable sitting and eating his lunch with his bright red cheeks and big brown eyes.

This is how you eat a watermelon when you have two kids and no knife.
They did great for the most part although Orin got a little too quick a few times...

We ended the day with homemade ice cream. Yum!
Sharing with Daddy - so sweet!

Splash Pads are one of our favorite things here in AZ. They are a ton of fun! And the paint idea, genius.

I love catching up on your blog, and as usual, I'm behind! I saw that you were paper-pregnant via FB, but hadn't read the blog. Yeah!! that's awesome. I loved your analogy, just getting pregnant, having 9 months to go. So cool - it'll fly by for sure. Just don't get any ideas about 'another baby' until AFTER you have your adooption done. :) THEN you can convince Damien. LOL.

The boys are so adorable! I love all your pictures - always so great.

It has been not hot here in Va. this year. Kinda weird. I mean, today was warmer, or normal temps., but for the most part it's been in the low 80's and no humidity. Strange!! But nice.

Enjoy the rest of the summer, hopefully it'll cool down for you before TOO long to an acceptable temp for having fun outside!!

Wow, was I behind here! I skimmed but missed lot last month. You sure do have two beautiful children! LOVED the kitchen hockey! Made me laugh. The fountain made me think of Andrew in the fountain Chattanooga, and also, I watched kids playing in the fountain in Centennial Park in Atlanta last week. That baby goat with Orin is so precious. Looks like they gave him a bath just before that picture. I've got to come for a visit soon!
