India: Day 1 & 2
>> Sunday, January 22, 2012
So I know I already had a few posts about India, but I wanted to do a little more detail about some of our days there so I don't forget.
The day we left Chiang Mai. I was so happy that we were all healthy. That was the biggest thing I stressed about before we left. I mean, what happens if your kid is throwing up or has a fever or some strange rash (which has happened quite a few times here in Thailand)? Do you go on the plane? Do we wall wait and pay to change the tickets? Do a few of us go and the others stay? I was glad we didn't have to make any of those decisions. We flew to Bangkok and had to wait a few hours at the airport so we ate dinner. I had subway for the first time since we moved here. It wasn't very good, LOL. We stayed in lounge of Bangkok Airways for an hour or so (we love Bangkok Airways) and the kids had endless popcorn and hot chocolate. Our flight left at 10:45pm and after 4 hours we landed in India! The Bangalore airport is WAY outside of the city so we took about a 30 minute taxi to our hotel. Since the place we were going was 3 hours from the airport we didn’t want to have such a long ride in the middle of the night. The road the entire way was under construction. But you can’t think construction in the US. There were huge holes in the middle of the road barely marked, potholes everywhere, no lane markers, people honking their horns constantly. We made it to the hotel and after some confusion (the guy couldn’t find our reservation) we were all in bed by about 3am. Phew!
Orin enjoying his hot chocolate before our flight. They had Burger King for dinner and wore these crowns for about 3 days.
For some reason the buses were so intriguing to me. They always seemed packed with people and crazy dirty.
Orin and Damien passing time by putting together the cute little foam toy helicopter the airline gave to the kids.
Damien decided maybe we should read a bit about Indian culture. :)
A gravel road we drove on as we were driving to the center. It was quite bumpy!
A tiny church in a small village we drove through.
Here is a short video of us driving through the streets of Bangalore.
