India: Day 6-9
>> Friday, January 27, 2012
Monday, Jan 2 to Thursday, Jan 5 was the first week of the workshop. The participants came and we spent the first week training FieldWorks, making sure they had the correct version of the software, and dealing with any technical issues that could come up during the five weeks. The grammar consultants weren't scheduled to come until the next week which was a great idea. We got a lot done with them that first week and wouldn't have been able to do it if they had to jump right in to writing their grammar papers. Monday morning Orin woke up sick and vomiting. He couldn't even keep down water. After about 24 hours of that we started to worry, but thankfully Tuesday afternoon he started keeping things down. We’re not sure where he got it, but we think it may have been from an apple since he was the only one eating them. We decided no more apples the rest of the trip, just in case. During the week we got into a good routine. By Wednesday Damien and I were starting to get sick of Indian food. It was so good, but the same food every day is just hard for us. We weren't feeling great either. Wednesday I had a fever through the night, but by Thursday afternoon it was gone. So strange. We had quite a few conversations with the kids about complaining and eating food even if we don’t like it. Oh, and on Thursday the 4th Damien and I both realized that we had completely forgotten about our 13th anniversary on the 2nd. Woops!
Standing in the center looking out the gates.
The back of our house where they would hang our laundry.
The front of the gate where we turn into the center.
Standing at the front gates looking down the street one way.
Looking the other way down the street.
Looking into the center from the street.
The other side of the back of the house. With five of us we had a lot of laundry!
I loved this picture of Sora peeling Garlic. Someone else took this picture and gave it to me. I guess this was how they kept her busy while we were working.
The living area of the house.
Sora standing by the front door. Front doors are cuter with her there. :)
This is looking from our house towards the building with the dining room and chapel.
Our little house...well, sort of ours. We shared it with someone else half the time.
The pile behind our house where they put our trash.
Looking at the house from the side where they washed our clothes.
Damien thought I was crazy for taking a picture of the broom. I love that everywhere they go they always look different!
The kitchen! We spent little time here, but I did make eggs once. :)
The bedroom we stayed in - when the kids were in it with us there was no room on the floor. :)
The dining area.
This was the chapel (on the top floor) and the dining hall (on the bottom floor).
I took a bunch of pictures of the center so I wouldn’t forget what it was like.
