It was time for Caiah to get a haircut. He's doing much better. For some reason he used to be really scared. Of course, nothing that a TV show for distraction and the promise for a piece of candy couldn't help. :-) I'm getting better too. By better, I mean faster. I finally got some actually hair scissors instead of using my regular scissors which REALLY helped. Doesn't he look adorable?

I was trying to get him to smile at me and he was trying to look around me to see the TV. :-)

This was Orin's choice for audio CD from the library this week. He saw it and said, "I want the princess book!" I love that he is still young enough to not realize that pink and princess are "only for girls." (or at least that's what people would say). Other kids will clue him in soon enough. It will only take one time for a kid to ask him what his favorite color is and the kid say, "Pink is for girls." I'll bet his favorite color will change to blue real quick! Damien loved 'My Little Pony' and other 'girlie' toys as a kid and he turned out fine so I'm not worried. :-) Maybe it will help him develop a sensitive side.
My first Lemon Meringue Pie totally from scratch. Well, I think it is. I've baked a lot in the past 10+ years so it's hard to remember. He was a great recipe from allrecipes.com. (I love that site). I've tried to make meringue one or twice in the past and I don't think it came out well. But Damien LOVES any kind of lemon dessert so I figured I needed to try again - especially since I have a stand mixer now. It came out great. Not because of me - just a good recipe. The only thing I was confused about was the beading on top of the meringue. I think it was little beads of sugar water. Does anyone know how to keep that from happening. But the taste was perfect. Unfortunately, we had some leftovers in the fridge and I didn't completely seal the pie (I just had some plastic wrap over it) and it totally absorbed the flavor of the meat. We think it was the meringue that really picked up the aroma. So we had a few good pieces before we had to throw it out. :-( It was pretty easy to make so I'll do it again soon.

the hair cut--adoreable and i am so glad that there is another boy out there who is interested in pink stuff. sawyer seems to go for pink stuff all the time and i just say it's because there is a lack of pink in the house with him being a boy. at least i hope that's all it is
