Pike's Peak Pictures

Here are a few pictures of our adventure up Pike's Peak. We stopped quite a bit on the way and looked at the beautiful mountains. There are two visitor centers as you drive up. As soon as we walked in and Orin saw this Lion, Orin stopped in his tracks and asked, "Is that real?" It was so funny because he was enthralled by it but also scared at the same time. He must have stood there looking at it for 5 minutes.
He kept touching it. The first time he put his hand up to the Lion's mouth he barely touched it and pulled his hand back right away. It was so cute. Look at how he's looking at it here. It's like he's staring it down just to make sure it doesn't make any sudden moves.
This was mile 17 (of 19). It was as far as they would like us go up because of wind. We could see the summit from where we were and it wasn't much higher. It was definitely cold and windy.
Orin playing in the snow. This was pretty much right after he got out of the car - as you can tell because he was still happy.
Daddy and Caiah in the snow. The only warm item of clothing we had was my light jacket so Damien wrapped Caiah in it.
I wrapped myself in a blanket. It wasn't the cold that was bad - it was the wind!
Caiah gave in pretty soon and waited in the car while the rest of us walked around and took some pictures.
We drove down about a half of a mile and found a spot with less wind. Caiah was happy to go and play for a little while but Orin had had enough.
We finally convinced Orin to get out if we wrapped him up.
Daddy and Orin climbing on the rocks.
They did a great job sleeping in the same bed the entire trip. It was so cute.
