Not deep thoughts; random thoughts... I don't even know if anyone is even remotely interested in what I write about, but much of the reason I have a blog is for journal purpose since I don't keep one. Eventually, (hopefully soon) I'm going to make a blog book like I've seen so many people doing. I'm almost finished with my 2007 scrapbook. I need to do Caiah's baby book and then maybe I'll do a blog book from 2007.
I'm obsessed with this candy. I crave it. If I don't have any in the house I can't wait to get my hands on it. I have only found it at Target and Toys 'R Us (which is far away). I could seriously go through a pack-a-day but I try to keep it to 1/2 per day. I rarely shop at Target but I've made quite a few trips there recently. I buy 2 or 3 packs at a time. Once I'm out I make myself wait a few days or week before going to get more. I love sugar! I'm going to give myself diabetes, aren't I?
Bathroom privacy. Most parents don't get much and can't wait to have it again. I don't feel that way. In fact, it feels strange to me know when we're at someones house and I have to close the door. Is that strange? Damien doesn't feel that way. He can't wait until the kids are older and he can go 'potty' in peace. I don't mind it. Even when Micaiah is sitting there tearing off pieces of toilet paper and asking over and over if he can wipe me. Even when Micaiah stands right in front of me and yells, "You can do it mom! Just go ehhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh." (making and long loud grunting sound). I will miss the high fives or the offering me of candy because I was a 'big boy' and went potty. And I won't have had the pleasure of seeing Micaiah horrified when he realizes I'm missing a body part that everyone else in our house has. Seriously, he was really worried. I'll miss those times....
This is Damien's special penguin from when he was a kid. He would keep his most precious stuffed animals in it. It was one of the few things in my mother-in-law's house that survived Hurricane Katrina. We got it from her last September and Micaiah has now claimed it. But whereas Damien kept animals in it, Micaiah uses it for his cars. I love seeing the similarity. Damien had names for all of his animals. He would line them up on his bed in a particular order. Now, Micaiah has names for his cars and lines them up on his bed. I love seeing our kids enjoy special parts of our childhood.
I know I put this on Facebook, but.... Every morning Micaiah makes me come into his room. First he has to prove to me that his light came on (his light is on a timer and he can come out of his room until it comes on). Second, he has to bring me to the window, open his blinds (which makes them into a huge mess) and tell me, "Look, the light turned on outside, too!" And I laugh every time!
Love when the kids randomly pick up book and start reading.
I love how when Micaiah is looking for something he'll walk around the house "calling" for it by name. "Little sword, where are you?" or, "McQueen, Bad Mac, King, Engine Car (name for 4 of his favorite cars) where are you?" It's so adorable. It's like he really thinks it will help him find them.
Ok, this is the best bread ever. When we moved here in September I decided to start making our bread. Partly to save some money (although I doubt it's that significa
nt) but mostly to be healthier. First, It's only 7 ingredients. (have you ever looked at how many there ingredients there are in bread?) It's all whole wheat flour and only honey to sweeten it. I tried out lots of recipes and this one was our favorite. It works perfectly in our bread machine. I've made it by hand but why not
let the BM do it for me? We got it as a wedding gift, so it's 10 1/2 years old, but still works great. The only problem is that it beeps - LOUDLY - the entire time. So I just put it in the laundry room. I don't think I've bought bread in over 4 months. I store the bread in these and it stays really fresh. The only problem is that we're starting to go through bread really quickly so I'm making it 2x per week at this point. I'm thinking about just making two loaves right in a row just so that I'm not making it so often.
The other day, after Caiah told me he was going to the potty I saw him playing. I asked him if he went, and he said yes. So I was a little grossed out and told him I had to wipe him before he could get off of the potty. He told me he wiped himself. What? He did it again the next day. Orin has been potty trained for 14 months and has never once he mentioned wiping himself. Micaiah has been potty trained for 1 1/2 months and is already wanting to do it. This is a perfect example of the difference between these two little boys. And the amazing thing is that when we checked him out he had done a pretty good job! I'm already starting to taste freedom.
I'm getting impatient. Our Social Worker told us she'd have our Korea home study written up in a week. A week was Monday. Now it's Thursday and we still don't have it. Seriously, how long does it take to write it up? She has our old one and can just copy and paste most of it. We need the final, notarized copy before we can re-apply for USCIS approval. I'm trying not to get frustrated. Trying not to let it affect my mood. Giving it to God one minute and taking it back the next. It's hard to be patient.

K, so I'm totally trying that bread recipe. I've been thinking about making our own too ... and just haven't pulled out the bread machine to try it. Now, we're at close to three loaves of bread in a week, so I have to hope that just maybe I could save several dollars a week since that's $6-9/week just for bread.
thanks for the bread recipe!
I can relate about the bathroom. Eli asks me all the time, "mommy, why do you pee out of your butt?" It makes me laugh!!!
That is encouraging about the potty training and wiping...I pray it is quicker and easier with Jasper!
that bread looks great. i want some. and that penguin is awesome. a friend of ours has one that was hers when she was little and her mom saved it and her little girl now has it. i love it.
