Feeing Icky

If you've ever heard that it takes time for your body to adjust when you move to a different country, then you've heard right! I have not felt myself since we got here. The first week was a given...any time you're getting over jet lag you feel pretty yucky. But the tiredness went away rather quickly and some stomach issues came in it's place. I've seen my share of bathrooms since we've been here. It's hard to know what it is. Is it just that my body is adjusting to the opposite time zone? Is it the fact that the water isn't safe to drink yet we shower and brush our teeth with it? Is it the food? Is it the fact that there are totally different germs here that I just need to get used it? I have no clue. I do know that I'm ready to be hungry again! :-) Of course, looking on the bright side I have lost some weight. It's not the best way to do it...but it works!

Oh, and if you've ever seen a Thai toilet then you know they are NOT fun to use. This is what you'll find all around town...at restaurants, markets, etc... Luckily, in our apartment we have a western-style toilet; as do a few of the larger stores. Orin got sick recently at a store and I'm glad he wasn't throwing up in one of these! Here is a picture in case you're wondering.

There are two kinds I've seen. This one is sort of in the ground so you just stand on it and squat...

As you can see, this one is a little more dangerous. You have to climb on it and hope you don't slip off. And believe me, it's slippery because it's not easy for people to aim on these things....

BTW, we are back from Bangkok. Wow, talk about a whirlwind trip! I'm glad we did it but I'm exhausted (as are the kids) and I was sick most of the time. Which is sort of hard for me because I am NEVER sick. I'll write more about the trip later. If you think about it, please pray that I find my camera! I think I may have left it in a taxi in Bangkok, in which case it is gone. Tomorrow I'm going to call the Guest House we stayed in and pray that they found it! Luckily it's a pretty cheap camera, but I'm bummed to have lost the pictures on it!
