Someone else turned 7! (well, a while ago)

While posting about Micaiah's birthday I realized that I never posted about Orin's 7th birthday party since it was right before we left to visit the US and things were crazy.
For the last two years we've been at our group's annual conference on Orin's birthday. It's actually the perfect time to have a party since his friends who live in nearby countries are all at the conference too. Orin again wanted to have a Star Wars birthday - his 4th year in a row to have a Star Wars party! I was running out of ideas for things to do. Thank goodness for the Internet!
The biggest hit (literally) at the party was light sabers that we made for each kid. The idea I saw was to use foam pipe covers (the ones you use in winter to cover pipes so they don't freeze). Well, this being Thailand where it doesn't ever freeze, they were no where to be found. The only thing I found was some pipe covers that were made of insulation. Not the safest solution, but since we were covering them with lots of duct tape I hoped it would be ok. They turned out fantastic. A bit thicker than normal light sabers, but the kids didn't care. For the rest of the conference I would see kids running around playing with them. I just had to warn the parents that as soon as they broke to throw them away!
Then we played a game called "Find the Death Star." It was rolled up balls of aluminum foil with some candy inside. There were 25 of them that Damien hid all over the playground. The kids loved it.
Then we played "Guess the Jedi." One of the kids stood up and we secretly told all of the other kids what Jedi Knight the child was. Then the child could ask yes or no questions and eventually try to guess what Jedi they were. Orin was so nervous.
A bit of the food at the party.
These were Oreo cookies mixed with cream cheese then dipped in white chocolate...yum!
Chocolate covered in gold foil to look like money.
I have no good pictures of Orin opening presents because there were so many kids huddled around. But I sort of love this picture because it represents the excitement in the air and a bunch of kids who could not sit still. :)
He was SO excited that he go 500B. That's about $15.
Then we played "Pin the light saber on Yoda."
I love the way he's looking at the candle. It's like he's saying, "I'm watching you fire so don't try anything tricky!"

And finally the cake! I love the edible cake toppers you can buy on amazon. They are so easy!
