A Happy Easter
>> Monday, April 7, 2008
Despite the hectic schedule surrounding Easter, we were able to take some time to have fun as a family and try to teach the kids the meaning of the holiday. We’re still trying to establish family traditions when it comes to holidays – and just trying to figure out what those traditions will be. We won’t be going the “Easter bunny/Candy” route - we want the kids to look forward to celebrating the holiday without the distraction from the true reason we celebrate. Thanks to a suggestion from Aunt C, I made these
homemade resurrection eggs. I wanted to open an egg each night for the 12 nights before Easter, but with Conversations and packing we just decided to have an egg hunt in our living room. Aunt Emily hid the eggs and the kids did a pretty good job of finding them. I was surprised at how focused they were opening and reading the verse inside. I’m looking forward to them understanding even more next year. We also went to an Easter-egg hunt at a local church. I couldn't believe how many activities there were in addition to the
hunt. The favorite activity was decorating and eating the cookies – of course. The kids also enjoyed making their own resurrection eggs. Here are some pictures of the fun.
