Baby Update!

Yesterday our agency received a fax from Korea. It was an update on Bada. It seems like she has a check-up once a month around the 20th of the month. When we accepted her referral, our IA doctor here had us send a few requests for tests to have done. Our acceptance of her was not at all dependent on whether or not they did the tests or the results. It was a merely a suggestion. She asked for a more detailed test of her hearing in her good ear (the test they performed in Korea tested less frequencies than they test here in the US). She also asked for a bone conduction hearing test in her Atresia ear. This will tell us if her Cochlea functions at all and if surgery may be possible in the future. She also asked for two blood tests to test liver function. Sometimes Aural Atresia can be associated with Kidney issues. This is because the inner ear and Kidney form at the same time during prenatal development. Well, in the report they had the blood test results for kidney function. We sent the info to the Doctor yesterday and she called today and said it looked great. So her Kidneys don't seem to be affected. Yeah! She will have a repeat hearing test on her good hear on September 30th.
Bada is now 5 months old. She weighs 12lbs 8oz and is 24.5 inches long. She's a tiny little peanut. She didn't gain much weight from last month. Her head circumference is still VERY small but the Doctor continues to assure us that as long as she is developing well and her head is growing and staying consistent there is NOTHING to worry about. We're trying to believe that because it's hard not to worry.
The craziest part is what they say about her development. Again, it's hard to trust, but she still seems to be doing so much for a barely 5 month old. One of the things on the checklist was "creeping on stomach" which was checked. Then it had a note under it saying, "Crawls and starts to stand up with holding on." Are you kidding me? Orin could barely hold his head off of the ground at 5 months! If this is accurate she'll be walking by the time she's home! Ok, maybe not, but still, she's an independent little thing!

lol, that is so funny, I cannot imagine a 5 month old crawling and creeping as well as standing holding on to things... wow, maybe she is a superhero.... that would be cool!
And Praise God about her tests coming back saying she is healthy...
The baby I used to watch started crawling at 5 months. She walked at 8 months and running at 9months. so it can happen.watch out!
