A good day

Every once it a while (hopefully more often than not) at the end of the day I can look back and think, wow, this was a really good day. Ya know, happy kids, happy parents, kids getting along really well, fun activities & family time, good conversations with the kids, etc. Yesterday was one of those day. It started off with flu shots for all of us. I know, not usually the way you start out a good day, but it just lasted a few minutes and the kids were over it very quickly. It's nice that we have the clinic here on the center so we can walk and I was just glad to be done with it. Orin went went off to preschool and Caiah and I hit a few thrift stores for fun to see if we could find some things for Bada. I'm pretty much starting from scratch besides the few things I've picked up at the boutique and the fun little gifts I've recently gotten. It's always fun to shop. It was fun having just Caiah with me and he was so good while I looked around. He wanted to be held almost the entire trip, but I don't mind some extra cuddle time. I had time to phone two good friends from VA and tell them about our referral. They were very happy for us so, of course, that made me smile. It's always great to catch up with friends. We picked up Orin from school and Damien came home from lunch as usual. We had some good lunch conversation with Orin about kids who are mean to him at school. In some ways he a very oblivious 4 year old and in other ways I think he catches so many things. He can be hurt by kids who say, "I don't like you." We're trying to teach him that it doesn't make it ok to be mean back (which I don't think he is) and that we should never treat others that way. And encouraging him that he is a wonderful little boy and that he is doing nothing to make them not like him - sometimes kids are just mean. So the day moved on, Orin stayed in his room his entire rest time without coming to ask "How many more minutes," and Caiah took a nice 2 hour nap. I sorted through the kids winter clothes and was happy to discover that between the boutique and clothes that we have given that I have enough 4T clothes for Orin for winter! Yeah. Caiah will use Orin's 3T from last year. When they woke up we headed to the pool that FINALLY opened here on the center. I know, it's a little late! The pool needed to be updated to meet city codes and they didn't have the money. It was so disappointing because the kids had been talking about swimming in it since March! Finally it all came together though and it opened for Labor Day. It's been too cold for my blood until yesterday so the kids I went. The boys had so much fun and were very obedient. They didn't whine or complain when I said it was time to go and a family that had brought watermelon had a bunch left over and left it for us to have. Around 6pm we picked Damien up from his office and went to the grocery store to pick up a few little things. Orin spent the entire time writing numbers, letters and random pictures on the mini-magna doodle and showing them to Damien. We all had donuts from the bakery while we waited in line. Home for a quick dinner, some play time and then a pretty low-key bed time. It was just a good day.

This is Orin before his flu shot. He was trying to be brave, but he did cry a little before it stared.

He was good during the shot and was fine almost as soon as it was over.
Caiah was sort of the opposite. He was all smiles before.
But as soon as she stuck the needle in he FREAKED! Damien wasn't ready for it and couldn't hold him still enough so the needle sort of went all over his arm and he got a pretty big cut. I felt bad for the nurse because she felt really bad even though it wasn't her fault. You can see Damien's face here struggling to hold him down. The kid is strong!

They were so excited to finally get to swim in the pool!
Jumping in, getting out, jumping in, splash fight, getting out, jumping in, etc....

LOL on the flu shot pictures. Just the fact that you took them. Poor Damien looks like it hurts him as much as poor Micaiah.

The pool pics are precious!! My sweet babies - can't wait to see them!!
