Orin's 1st day & other random stuff

Orin finally got to go to school. It ended up being a little bit of an interesting first day. The antibiotics did its job. Unfortunately, it also had some side effects. During art class he had to run to the bathroom but didn't quite make it in time. From what his teacher told me his art teacher started to get concerned because he was gone so long. He locked the door and tried to deal with it himself and Orin wouldn't let her in - so she got his teacher. Mrs. M came and after a while finally convinced Orin to let her in. I was actually proud of him because the problem wasn't that he was embarrassed. He didn't want to let anyone in because he knows he knows only Doctors (sometimes) and mom and dad should help wipe him or see him without clothes. It's good to know he's been listening when we've had those talks! He finally let his teacher in but only if she would close her eyes and not help him wipe. :) I guess there was some crying in there too. His teacher was very sweet and seemed handle it well...and suggested we let him know that in an emergency situation like that it would be ok if she helped him. :) I'm thankful it happened in the bathroom and not in front of the other kids. The best part of it all is that he wasn't phased by it. He LOVED his first day of school! We told him how proud we were of him for following the rules and that we knew it was just an accident. It was forgotten after a few minutes and I don't think he'll even remember it if he thinks back to that first day.
A few other random things:
- Every time we put in a new CD Micaiah asks, "Are these songs about God?" If not, he complains that he wants to here music talking about God. I swear, he's more conservative than a Southern Baptist grandma. :)
- It's only been a couple of days but I think we're going to like Orin's teacher. Supposedly she's very academically minded, but she also seems to be fair and flexible. She's very sweet but will also expect a lot from the kids. I'm looking forward to this year.
- We've known Micaiah's teacher since last year. She the perfect preschool teacher. Micaiah's been calling her "my teacher" ever since we visited the preschool class last October. He didn't actually ever go to the class but always wanted to. I think he has a little crush on her. Yesterday he told me, "Today, Ms. K smiled at me THREE TIMES during rest time!"
- The other night we were listening to music in the car and Orin asked, "Can you praise God any other ways besides signing songs to Him?" I love his questions. Too bad more adults don't ask this!
- Orin is obsessed with percentages these days. If you ask him a question he'll always back up his answer with a percentage. Micaiah asks Orin, "Do you want to play Lego's when we get home?" and Orin says, "I probably want to play, I'm about 90% sure I will." Orin asks me, "Mom can I play my Leapster later?" I say, "Probably not," and he'll say, "Ok, that means there is only about a 20% chance I'll get to play." Seriously, he does this with everything.
- When I collected Orin's stool for his test I noticed the poor kid has worms. So we're all going to do the treatment. It's funny how nonchalant the Doctor was when I mentioned it. As if I was telling her I had a ham sandwich for lunch or something. LOL! I wonder how long he's had them? Many people here choose to "de-worm" themselves once a year and I'm definitely considering doing this!
Orin and Micaiah finally went to school on the same day so I just had to take a couple of pictures.

Glad he got to go, and he will remember it because you blogged about it :)
We heard about the worms... we will have to do that too I am sure. Are the schools there expensive? They will be where we move, a bit nervous about that!
I love hearing my kids sing praise songs in the car, but Jasper is obsessed with Brittni Spears, not her music, just because she is coming and he saw her poster around town. He looks for it and says "momma, there's Brittni, she so pretty, I think I love her." And stares at it. Freaky and funny all at the same time! lol
I love the comment to the doctor. Orin is so literal and a great listener. His comment is so funny and so true!! That is one to remember. Orin, Micaiah, and Sora - keep praising the Lord!!!
