Fun on the farm...again

Last year I found this great pumpkin farm about 45 minutes away. Yes, that's a little far, but everything was completely free! Aunt Christina was in town so we ventured up to Flower Mound. It was SO worth the drive. Tons of great things for the kids to do. This year I have wanted to go all October long, but since it rained about 28 of the 31 days in October, I didn't have many opportunities. I finally picked a day that looked sunny and invited two friends to come along. Unfortunately, as we were leaving we called to make sure they were open and they had delayed their opening until noon. One of the girls couldn't come then because her older kids were coming home from school. So we just had a morning play-date with them. We did a quick run to the library for story time and then met up with the other friend to head to the farm.
The reason they opened at noon because of the MUD. Since the rain had been non-stop, there wasn't much time for the ground to dry. So I dressed the kids in clothes that I knew might get ruined by mud. I'm glad I did. It was pretty messy. As soon as we got there we all decided to sit and eat our lunch. Bad idea! My friend's little girl is deathly afraid of bee's and of course, there were a lot around. We moved tables and tried going to the other side of the farm with no luck. Her crying got Orin crying because of the bee's too. So we decided to skip the rest of our half-eaten lunch and let the kids play.
Micaiah saw some kids jumping as they went down the slide so he had to try. Right after I took this picture he completely flipped forward onto his head...but came up smiling. :-)
It got two of these Bat Man pajama tops at the boutique recently. They would wear them every day if I let them. Caiah wanted to wear his; my first instinct was to say "no". I hate when I say no right away without thinking. Because then I sometimes want to change my mind and say yes, but if the kids have started whining I can't. This time I caught myself and said why not. He looked so cute running around in his cape.
Orin and Micaiah kept coming down together trying to flip over each other.
Orin helping Caiah up the steps. That's Emily waiting at the top.
All three coming down the slide together.
He looked so cute running away with that cape! I couldn't help but smile.
Micaiah was having a difficult time getting up onto the slides. Emily was so sweet and would pick him up each time.
Taking a break. It's not often that this one is sitting still.
They were so excited about picking out a pumpkin. These bigger ones were about $15 so we went with a $3 mini pumpkin. Luckily, they didn't mind.
The three musketeers out pumpkin shopping.
Drivin' the train.
Orin stuck in jail. Hope this isn't some sort of prediction of his future. ;-)

Eli just looked at the pics with me and loved them. He said "Mom, is that Disney World? They sure look like they are having a good time."
I saw these a while back but forgot to comment! What a fun day you guys had! Loved that B&W pic with just the one orange pumkin. AND the one of Micaiah walking away in the cape. So cute! All of them are... :)
