It's ALL gone!

My hair that is! I have been meaning to get it cut since we came to CM, but just never got around to it. My hair had not been cut in ages. One day I looked at realized it was very long. The longest it had ever been. A friend of mine from high school who lives in Germany was able to donate her hair to Locks of Love. You have to mail it to them anyway...the hair from Germany or Thailand just comes from farther away. :-) So I decided to do it. Why wasted all of that hair!

So here is the before...

I went to someone I knew who spoke English since I knew they were going to think I was crazy for wanting to keep my hair. After a little bit of explanation I think she understood. After the best shampoo I had ever gotten (about 15 minutes!) the cutting began. There were some ladies from Australia who seemed very interested in the whole process. As she started cutting they were gasping a little and saying, "You're so brave!" Until then, I hadn't really thought much about how much hair I was actually cutting off. So I had a little bit of a "freak out" moment in my head - maybe about 7 seconds - but still, those thoughts of "What am I doing!?!" In order to donate your hair they need at least 10 inches. That's a lot of hair! But seriously, what is the big deal about cutting hair? People always get so uptight about it. I mean, it's not like you have to do anything to grow your hair. It just happens. They only reason I can think it's such a big deal is that it's like having a part of your past with you. That hair has been with you for years. Or, maybe I'm wrong. But we have this unexplained emotional connection to our long hair!

So this is it. I think this is the shortest it's ever been. I never would have gotten it this short if I weren't donating it. But it will grow so I'm not too worried about it. Neither Damien or I love it....but we don't hate it. It's just hair.

I figured I'd take a picture with Sora because she's a lot more fun to look at!

And here is the ponytail. It seems a little gross to me. Damien says it makes him think of a scalping. Yuck. Off in the mail. The postage cost more than the hair cut! LOL
