I think most of these pictures were taken in November. One day I WILL catch up!
My mom took tons of pictures while she was here and Orin
really noticed. He loves to take pictures with my camera and loved when my mom
helped him use her BIG camera. I think we may have a little budding photographer.

Sora wanted to hold Micaiah’s hand as we walked back to the car after speech therapy. Cute things like that just make we want to take pictures. Sometimes he's totally up for it, and sometimes, well, I think today was one of those sometimes. J
There is a HUGE Thai school right down the street from us. We walk through it every day to get to the boys’ school. In November they had a Hot Air balloon festival. It was crazy. Every morning and evening, about 10 hot air balloons would take off from the school. I’m not sure where they went, but they flew right past our house. I mean, literally 20 yards away. Every morning at 6:30am I’d be woken up to the “phuuuut” sound of the fire as it was released to keep the balloon afloat. The boys thought it was great to look out the window and see them. Every afternoon you could go to the school and they’d have the balloons set up for everyone to look at. I’ve never actually seen one in real life before (only on TV) so it was really cool. The kids thought so too!
So this made me laugh. We had this big 4 foot hole (the cover to the sewer broke) right in front of our gate. Cars weren’t seeing it and some even fell in. I guess someone decided it was time to make a warning. I love that they don’t cover it, or even put things around it – just a little red flag. Even funnier, the next day I noticed that people had tied their trash around it. Seriously? It is SO hard to find an outside trashcan in this city so people got to put it somewhere. I took this picture in November – it’s now January and the hole, sign, and trash are still there!
It’s still so interesting to walk past the construction site I wrote about in another blog. They building has almost been finished. It’s fun to look at it and see the difference between it and a construction site at home. Things like laundry being hung out to dry. Kids playing all around, every day. People must bring their kids to work. No hard hats or anything. A rough-looking spirit house right in front made of bricks with food and drink on it. And still, I’ve never seen one large machine or truck there.
I somehow got caught up in a funeral procession. I had never seen one before – and it was interesting to to see the casket in the back of a pick-up truck decorated with flowers.
Orin made a pattern with these pegs and wanted me to take a picture. He calls it a “patter-in” and try as he might he cannot say it the right way with only one syllable.
I came out to my motorbike one day and found that these too flies had turned my seat into their bedroom. I thought it was hilarious and Damien thought I was crazy for taking a picture. Maybe I am, LOL
We went to a Thai wedding recently and it was really interesting. Since Thai culture is so intertwined with Buddhism, if Thai Christians have a wedding, it’s difficult to keep in aspects of their Thai culture but not make it Buddhist. Because of that, many Thai Christians have a very Western-type wedding. Basically, if this wedding was in English it could have easily been in the US. I was still shocked when this was the special song. This is the song Damien sang to us at our wedding.

Just love the randomness of all this. :) I can testify about the construction site too! Blew me away to see the kids there. I have a blog post waiting to be written about stuff like that.
OK, the flies on the seat cracked me up. Did you tell to "get a room?" LOL!
I wish now I had just "made" or "let" Orin keep that camera. I bet he would really appreciate it now. Sorry I didn't. I love the pics I took of him shooting you guys at the Botanical Gardens.
