Have Patience

Micaiah is a child who knows what he wants. Not only that, he will definitely let you know what it is and that he wants it NOW. For his age, he is very good verbally and has an amazing vocabulary. As I've written before, we've been visiting churches for the past few months. We've probably been to over 15. Almost every single time we've picked him up from the nursery, one of the teachers has commented about how well he communicates. In regards to getting what he wants, he's actually gotten better over the past few months (i.e. throwing less tantrums when he doesn't get what he wants). Since he started acting like a two year old at 1 1/2 (probably around a year ago) I was hoping that he'd grow out of it early. I think he is. Anyway, back to the point. When Micaiah wants something, he's like a broken record. He'll tell you over, and over, and over, and over... Even if you say, "ok," he continues to ask until you do it. So I've found myself saying, "Have patience" to him a lot these past 6 months. Damien likes to say, "Hold your horses," and then make a horse sound. And when Damien makes a house sound, it really sounds like a horse. One time I did the same thing, but said "neigh" instead of making the real sound - Caiah quickly said to me, "no mommy, it's like this," and he then proceeded to do a great job of making a real horse sound. We even taught him that silly, 'have patience' song - which finally brings me to the point of this post. He learned it quickly. Unfortunately, somehow he got the impression that the song works sort of like a timer, and that as soon as he's finished singing he'll get what he is asking for. (i.e. "Mommy, can I please have a banana?" (I threw the please in there but it's only there about half of the time). Me, "Ok, in just a minute." Caiah, "Mommy, can I have a banana?" Me, "Yes, Caiah, just a second please." This may go on a few more times or I might just ask him to please have patience. Then he'll sing the song. Once he's done he'll be so excited and say, "Yeah, I get my banana now!") We were out this weekend and he wanted me to take him to the bathroom to wash his hands. I said to have patience, and he sang the song. Then I made him sing it a few more times while I videoed because it was just so darn cute. The words are as follows in case you can't understand everything he says:
Have patience, have patience, don't be in such a hurry
When you get, impatient, you only start to worry
Remember, remember, that God is patient too
And think of all the time when others had to wait for you
The last line is sort of ironic because, as I've mentioned before, Micaiah has to be one of the slowest kids I've ever seen when we're trying to get somewhere.
Anyway, here is the video.

That is so cute. I will have to give that song a try one of these days.
On regards to getting better about well everything I have seen that around three it really starts to look up and that by 4 I am able to breath again. Everyday is a step in the right direction though.
Good luck the boys are so cute:)
