Getting ready!

>> Sunday, January 17, 2010

Have I mentioned that we just moved? I have to get around to writing about that soon. We were finally settled into our new apartment last Monday and could start getting things here ready for Sora. Because we moved from a three bedroom 1200ft. apartment to a 2 bedroom 850ft. apartment, we didn't have much room for extra stuff that comes with having a baby. But we've made a little room and have enjoyed getting things ready for her to come.

At first Sora will sleep in our room. Since she's now sleeping in bed with her foster mother, it will be a big step just to get her into her own crib. So we're putting the crib in our room for now. I'm so glad it fit! Tonight Orin prayer was, "Dear God, please let the crib come in my room so Sora she can sleep in my room with me." He just can't wait. My mom made the bumper pads when I was pregnant with Orin so I was excited to pull them out for the third time! They have gone through 4 moves since Orin was born so I can't believe I actually had them handy.

Her little doll waiting for her.

We have two dressers in the boys room which only have enough room for their clothes and Sora's blankets, PJs, socks, & shoes. So I had to hang up all of her clothes in the closet. I hope it's not too much of a pain doing it that way. These are her clothes for now and for the next size up. I think I have 10 outfits for 6-9 months and 10 for 12 months. I feel like it's a lot. I feel very blessed to have them - and they all came from the boutique, thrift sores, hand-me-downs or as gifts. It's a lot of cute clothes for mostly being second-hand. I can't wait to see them on her.

A little doll house waiting for her. Orin picked out this doll house (African American family and all) as his special gift for giving up his passy. He used to play with it a lot but hasn't so much lately. I'm glad we have it for Sora because we certainly don't have many girl toys!

We have her high chair all set up and ready to go - although I probably need to give it a good scrub down. Orin's chair is directly to the right of hers. The first meal we ate after I put the high chair up Orin suddenly gasped and exclaimed, "I'm going to get to sit next to Sora!!!!" He was truly excited.

This is the suitcase of gifts we're bringing to Korea. We have lots of baby supplies for the orphanage (wipes, q-tips, baby wash, a baby rattle, A&D, etc.). From what we hear they are always in need of basic necessities to take care of the babies. We also have a gift for Sora's foster mother - a frame, candle, chocolates. It's amazing how difficult it is to find items that are made in the USA. We also have some US made nuts, jelly beans, chocolate, etc. for the SWS office staff and a gift for the social worker who will work with us in Korea.

We had to do some car seat swapping. We decided to put Sora into Micaiah seat and move Micaiah into Orin's. Orin is about to hit the 40lb limit for using the five-point harness anyway. As we were looking for a new car seat for him we were trying to decide if we should just get him a booster. After looking at all of the statistics and some child car safety web sites (and inadvertently coming across some tragic stories) we decided to keep him in a five point harness. It's neat that many brands have come out with cars seats that can keep your child in five-point until 65 pounds and then convert it to a booster. It used to be that only Britax offered that and we certainly couldn't afford it. His seat cost more than just a basic booster...but I thought it was not bad and worth it. Caiah loves having Orin's old seat because it has blue on it. :-)

Sora's "accessories" - socks, shoes, toys, bows. A sweet friend made me a bunch of adorable hair bows. I can't wait to use them.

Pulled out all of the bottles I had for the boys but never used. She even has her own little pink Nalgene that Mimie got her for Christmas. :-)

PJ drawer! Definitely more pink than we've ever had in our home!

Now all we need is Sora!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
