Sora Update!
>> Monday, January 4, 2010
We were surprised to get an update on Sora a few days ago! We hadn't received any information or pictures since her referral back in September (other than those pointless hearing tests they kept doing). In mid-November we had asked for an update but just assumed they weren't going to do it for us. We were excited to see how much she has grown. The report came with a checklist of some of the fun things she can now do. She can sit on her own and stand with help. She babbles, rolls both ways, crawls, pulls to a stand, imitates, localizes the direction of sound, puts things in her mouth, etc... She sleeps for about 11 hours at night and wakes up once to eat. She only takes 1-2 naps a day for 30min-1 hour (we're going to have to work on that one.) ;-) She also sleeps with her foster mom so we're very interested to see how that goes as well...
I found a blog of another adoptive family who got their USCIS immigration approval the day before us (we got ours on December 2). But this family already got their travel call and are in Korea now! It just reminds me how inconsistent (and frustrating) international adoption can be. It gives me hope that we can get a call before February, but in the same sense I need to still be ready to wait until then.
The worker added this sweet comment at the end of the report: "Bada is over seven months old, very cute and lovely baby girl. She is very healthy now and shows good condition. She is growing very well under foster family's love and affection. I do hope she is going to meet her adoptive parents soon and grow up happily and brightly in their love and concern. "
