Peace

>> Thursday, February 4, 2010

Although the beginning of January was really hard, the last two weeks have been much better. Instead of only praying for God to bring Sora home, I've been praying for peace. Of course, I'm still praying for God to bring her home some too. :-) It has really helped. It's help me not to dwell on listening for the phone to ring every moment. Or constantly thinking, "We should have her by now." I know she's going to come. It will happen at the perfect time. It doesn't mean I don't want her to come NOW. It doesn't mean I don't get sad when I look at her picture (which is all day long since we have them everywhere). But God has given me peace when it comes to the urgency. We started this process on September 12, 2008. It's been a LONG tough ride. God has taught a lot. Patience and flexibility are definitely the top two. It seems like forever. The funny thing is that it's still much shorter than the whole process of having our first child.

We're headed down to New Orleans tomorrow to watch the Superbowl with our families this weekend. To be honest, I was hoping we wouldn't be able to go. I was hoping we'd be in Korea. But I guess there is a reason God wants us there. Mardi Gras is next week and this will the first time our kids will be able to go to parades. We haven't been in ten years. It will be fun to show them something that was such a big part of our lives growing up. Who knows when we'll be back during MG season again. It will be fun to be able to cheer along with the city during the Super Bowl. A city that has lost so much. A city that needs God so desperately. Win or lose, it will be fun to be a part of that excitement.

I'm happy that it's February. I'm happy we'll have this weekend to distract us from the "waiting." And hopefully we'll have good news shortly after we get back.

I love this. Praying for safe travel and a fabulous weekend in NOLA ... I know you've been wanting to do MG for awhile. I'm glad it worked out this year for you guys. Don't have too much fun without us. Tell Rob we'll enjoy watching the game in HD ... with IBCs in hand. :) Since they lost when Doug and Damien were together the last time, maybe it's good we've stayed here. ;)
